MFZ SIGNS MOU WITH CHINA HARBOUR, ONE OF THE WORLD’S LARGEST PORT IMPLEMENTERS and operators.

The Director of the Media Office of the Misrata Free Zone (MFZ), Alaa El-Din Baba, confirmed in an exclusive interview with Libya Herald that a memorandum of understanding had been signed between the MFZ and China Harbour company, one of the world’s largest port implementers and operators.The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the International Conference on Ports and Free Zones (ICPFZ) being held in Misrata from 18 to 20 November.The MoU stipulates the launch of studies of a group of projects for developing the free zone at its two sites (A) and (B) and investing in infrastructure projects within them.According to Baba, MFZ seeks to be a strategic centre to attract investments in Libya and North Africa because of its capabilities, good infrastructure, and the advantages it provides to investors. In addition to its possession of a port that is considered among the best ports in Africa due to its location near European ports with high commercial activity, which makes it among the options for shipping lines for transit trade.China Harbour is considered a leading Chinese company in the field of implementing and operating ports and engineering works. It also specializes in implementing major infrastructure projects, including the development of ports, tunnels, bridges, roads, and marine projects.
