The Central Statistical Office (GUS) has reported that in October 2023, retail sales at constant prices rose by 2.8 percent y/y and by 3.2 percent m/m, while in the January to October period this year the figure shrank by 2.6 percent y/y. As noted by the statistical office, last month the biggest increase in retail sales at constant prices was recorded by entities selling solid, liquid and gaseous fuels, up by 16.7 percent, compared to a decrease by 20.5 percent a year earlier. Higher sales figures were also recorded by companies trading cars, motorbikes and parts (+12.3 percent y/y) as well as pharmaceutical products, cosmetics and orthopaedic equipment (+2.3 percent).
