Kazakhstan substantially reduces re-export of dual-purpose goods to Russia - EU sanctions envoyKazakhstan has considerably reduced the re-export of dual-purpose goods to Russia, but other exports to Russia have increased, the European Union's sanctions envoy David O'Sullivan told a press conference in Astana on Tuesday. He thanked Kazakhstani colleagues and Kazakhstani authorities for the measures, which resulted in a considerable decrease in the re-export of certain goods, and certain products to Russia. At the same time, there has been an increase in the re-export of other goods, something to work on yet, he said. The EU hopes the sanctions will not stand in the way of its cooperation with Kazakhstan, the envoy said. The EU is Kazakhstan's biggest and main trading partner and investor, with many joint ambitious projects and plans, be it green technology or transport, he said. The EU intends further to advance this relationship positively and affirmatively and to establish closer cooperation, O'Sullivan said, noting that the sanctions should not hinder their closer and deeper cooperation.
