LITHUANIA: VILNIUS: A PRIME CONTENDER FOR HOSTING THE EU‘S AMLA

European Union nations vie to host the Anti-Money Laundering Agency (AMLA), with Vilnius, Lithuania, standing out. Gintarė Skaistė, Lithuania's Finance Minister, touts Vilnius' strengths: strong risk management, Fintech prominence, and a skilled talent pool. Lithuania ranks among the lowest in money laundering risks globally. Over 250 Fintech firms and regulatory advancements bolster its bid. Vilnius offers a high quality of life and a skilled labor market. The AMLA, key in fighting financial crime, will collaborate with EU states' authorities. Evaluations for the host site are expected in December, with both the EU Council and Parliament making the decision. Vilnius aims for an operational AMLA unit by 2025, leveraging its advantages and commitment against financial crime for consideration. (ICE VARSAVIA)
