Transport Minister Marius Skuodis of Lithuania is targeting Germany for expanding flight connections, aiming to establish routes from Lithuania to key German transport hubs such as Hamburg, Dusseldorf, and plans for increased connections to Berlin and Munich. The strategic significance of Germany, notably in NATO with a battalion stationed in Lithuania and future combat brigade deployment, underscores the importance of bolstering transport ties between the two countries. A tripartite agreement involving the Transport Ministry, Economy Ministry, and Vilnius City Municipality was signed, allocating around 10 million euros in 2024 to promote flights to and from Vilnius. The agreement highlights 27 priority destinations, emphasizing international connections, including cities like New York, Brussels, Dublin, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, and Krakow.
