Northway Group, led by Vladas Algirdas Bumelis, is constructing Bio City, Europe's touted largest biotechnology campus in Vilnius, Lithuania. The ambitious project plans six complexes focusing on gene therapy, R&D, virology, stem cell research, and 3D bioprinting labs across an area equivalent to 50 football fields. A substantial investment of around 7 billion euros over the next decade will establish four factories and two research centers, generating over 2,000 jobs. Bumelis highlights the expected economic, intellectual, and social benefits for Lithuania, envisioning heightened prominence in global biotech. The Gene Therapy Centre, the first facility, is set to launch operations by the second quarter of 2024.
