Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis on Friday said that tourist arrivals from Poland are expected to exceed 300,000 in 2024, after having conducted a number of meetings with tourism stakeholders in the country over the past two days.  In a statement from the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, Koumis expressed his expectation of further improvements in air connectivity between the two countries in the coming year, with flights to Cyprus expected from 11 different cities.  In addition, he highlighted the inclusion of chartered flights by some other airlines in these plans.  “Personally, I consider the continued rise of the Polish market as a certainty,” Koumis said.  “Also, with restrained optimism, we expect Poland to reach or even surpass the 300,000 visitor mark next year,” he added.  He further emphasised the growth of the Polish tourism market year by year, stating that “this year witnessed a significant increase compared to the previous year, reaching up to 47 per cent, culminating in 240,000 arrivals by the end of October”.  Koumis also highlighted the relatively high satisfaction level of Polish visitors, according to feedback received by the ministry’s associates.  What is more, during his visit to Poland, Koumis met with heads of tourism organisations running flight schedules to Cyprus.  These meetings involved discussions about this year’s outcome, customer satisfaction levels, and plans for the upcoming year.  Discussions primarily revolved around developments concerning the Polish market, focusing on topics such as air connectivity, the potential increase in offered seats, and the possible extension of tourism programmes by certain organisations.  Moreover, meetings were held with organisations specialising in alternative forms of tourism, particularly centred around sports tourism.  Finally, the ministry’s statement noted that Koumis also granted interviews to three Polish media outlets during his visit.
