Spanish Tecnicas Reunidas to build nitrogen fertilizer plant in AktauA plant for ammonia and carbamide production is scheduled for construction in Aktau, western Kazakhstan, with Tecnicas Reunidas, the Spanish company, handling the design project documentation, as announced by the government's press service.Prime Minister Alihan Smailov discussed the new investment projects in the chemical and petrochemical sectors with Tecnicas Reunidas CEO Juan Liado."We appreciate Tecnicas Reunidas' collaboration with Kazazot and Kazmunaygaz in the development of the design documentation for the new ammonia-carbamide complex in Aktau, along with the production of polyethylene in Aktau, the Atyrau region," Smailov said.The prime minister welcomed the high-value project that will produce a new product for Kazakhstan, urea, a nitrogen-containing fertilizer suitable for nearly all types of soil. "The government is ready to provide required support for implementing investment projects in priority economic sectors," he added.Juan Liado affirmed the company's commitment "to finding optimal solutions and ensuring efficient construction in partnership with local companies."Smailov emphasized Spain's role as a crucial trade and economic partner for Kazakhstan within the European Union. The trade turnover between the two nations surged by 42% last year, presenting opportunities for investment cooperation. Spanish companies have invested approximately $300 million in Kazakhstan since 2005.Tecnicas Reunidas, a Spanish company specializing in designing and executing industrial projects, established an office in Astana in 2020.
