POLISH INDUSTRY IN POOR SHAPE

Polish Confederation Lewiatan’s expert Mariusz Zielonka has commented on the latest data from S&P Global, which reported that in December 2023 the Purchasing Managers’ Index had fallen to 47.4 points from 48.7 points a month earlier. According to Zielonka, the fact that the PMI remains below the 50 line that separates growth from contraction shows that Polish industry is not ready yet for recovery anticipated by economists. The expert also notes that one of the main challenges faced by Polish industry is a lack of new orders, in which category a relevant PMI sub-index has been falling for 22 consecutive months.
