POLISH CITIES CONTINUE TO SHRINK

The latest data from the Central Statistical Office (GUS) show that Polish cities are experiencing population loss, in particular Radom, Poznań, Białystok, Łódź and Bydgoszcz, with the negative trend due to a number of factors, including a low rate of natural increase and high property prices, including in the rental segment. The data also point to another trend, i.e. suburbanisation, where population shifts from a city’s core into suburbs, and one of the cities where this trend is acutely visible is Poznań, which is tightly surrounded by neighbouring municipalities.
