CROATIA: TENDERS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A HIGHWAY THROUGH THE DUBROVNIK COAST

Croatian Autoceste and Croatian Roads have announced seven public procurements for the construction of roads in Croatia with a total estimated value of 893.7 million euros, including the tender for the construction of two sections of the highway towards Dubrovnik. It is about the subsection of the highway between Metković and Dubrovnik, from Slano to Mravinc in the Dubrovnik coast, which is 11 and a half kilometers long, for which the tender for a contractor is open until February 14 this year, and the one from Slano to Rudin, 9 kilometers long, for which the tender closes the day before, that is, on February 13 this year. The estimated value of the first sub-section is 179 million, and the second 201 million euros without VAT, which makes the section of the highway through the Dubrovnik area the most expensive in the country. This is also confirmed on the website of the US International Trade Administration, where they point out that these projects have potential for American companies with expertise in engineering and design, consulting, road construction equipment and other related subsectors. Inviting American companies to apply for tenders, they point out that for the section of the Rudine-Doli-Dubrovnik highway, public procurement will be announced for each of the three sections, Rudina - Slano, Slano - PUO Mravinjac and PUO Mravinjac - Osojnik. - The Rudine - Osojnik section, with a length of 28 kilometers, is the most expensive highway to be built in Croatia. According to current estimates, one kilometer of this highway would cost around 27 million euros. The extremely high cost of construction is due to the demanding nature of the terrain that the highway route will pass through. Even 21 kilometers of this section are in buildings and tunnels. In addition, a total investment of 1.3 billion euros is expected in the period from 2024 to 2032 in the construction of the A7 highway Križišće-Novi Vinodolski-Žuta Lokva and the A1 highway, section Metković-Pelješki most-Čvor Doli-Dubrovnik - it says on website of the US International Trade Administration. Namely, as many as 30 buildings have been designed on the section between Dol and Dubrovnik, namely 10 viaducts, 3 overpasses, 8 underpasses and 9 tunnels, the longest of which will be Crvena Greda at 2,425 meters. Four access nodes will be built, one of which leads to Doli and the Pelješka road and the other to Slano, 4 road crossings and two rest areas, one in Mravinjac and the other above Dubrovnik. The plan is for the entire section through the Dubrovnik-Neretva County to be completed by 2030. (ICE ZAGABRIA)
