The areas planned for cotton cultivation for the agricultural season 2023-2024 is about 14,419 hectares, with an expected production of about 43,257 tons, according to the Director of Planning and International Cooperation in the Ministry of Agriculture, Nazik Al-Ali.  Al-Ali said that during the last season, 7,175 hectares of planned areas were cultivated with cotton, producing about 17,017 tons, of which 15,866 tons have been marketed so far.  Al-Ali pointed out that the purchase price of one kilogram of  cotton was set at 10,000 Syrian pounds to encourage farmers to plant all the planned areas of this crop.
