RUSSIA-KAZAKHSTAN-CPC-TANKFARMS

Caspian Pipeline Consortium suspended oil shipments in Jan due to weather, mulling tank farm expansionThe Caspian Pipeline Consortium is looking into the possibility of expanding its tank farms."The weather - there was a storm. Yes, we suspended [oil shipments in January] for a day at most, but we did not stop receiving [crude from shippers]. We stored it and supplied the first tankers as soon as [the weather] permitted," CPC CEO Nikolai Gorban said at a press conference.Gorban said the CPC tank farm was about 1.5 million tonnes. "As a rule, we work without storing it, we immediately load as much as possible," he said. "If bad weather continues for more than 80 hours, we can still, with certain minor restrictions from producers, carry on [receiving] and taking oil," Gorban said."Regarding the construction of a new tank farm, we are currently considering this and it will probably be relevant in the future. But we have not yet raised this issue with the shareholders, so we need to make the necessary technological calculations, we need a justification," he said. (ICE ALMATY)
