KAZAKHSTAN-RESCUERS-FLEET-PLANS

Kazakhstan's Emergency Ministry opts for Canadian and Czech aircraftThe Kazaviaspas airline, under the Ministry of Emergency Situations, intends to grow its fleet with new aircraft by 2030, favoring models used in Canada, as announced by the Kazakhstan Ministry of Emergency Situations press service on Tuesday.A meeting to establish the aviation fleet for the Ministry of Emergency Situations took place on Monday at the premises of Kazaviaspas JSC.“Following the analysis, it was determined that the best approach for Kazakhstan is to adopt the model utilized in Canada. With comparable geographical and climatic conditions, Canada operates a considerable number of special-purpose flights using a fleet of small and ultra-light aviation,” according to the Ministry.During the meeting, two types of aircraft were discussed, both offering standard options for passengers, ambulances, cargo, and landing capabilities - the L410 NG and the DHC-6 Twin Otter."These aircraft offer the benefits of short takeoff and landing. With a passenger capacity of up to 19 people and a maximum takeoff weight not exceeding 5.7 tonnes, they boast a lower acquisition cost and cost per flight hour in comparison to helicopters,” the Ministry said. The Kazaviaspas airline plans to acquire 58 aircraft (26 airplanes, 32 helicopters) by 2029 as part of its development program. The acquisitions include two jet aircraft, four interregional flight planes (L-410NG), and 20 regional flight planes (DeHavilland Viking Twin Otter).Currently, the Kazaviaspas fleet comprises 32 aircraft. The L-410NG from Czech manufacturer Aircraft Industries is designed for 19 passengers or over two tonnes of cargo. The DHC-6 Twin Otter, a twenty-seat turboprop passenger aircraft with short takeoff and landing capabilities and fixed landing gear, is from the Canadian division of de Havilland. It is well-suited for operations from unprepared ground sites, commonly used on short-haul air routes, at airfields with short runways, and in expeditionary conditions. (ICE ALMATY)
