KUWAIT'S KNPC TO EXPLORE RENEWABLE ENERGY

Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) has invited top engineering consultancy firms to submit bids for a contract to undertake a pre-feasibility study to identify how renewable energy and its alternatives can add value to KNPC and the Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (Kipic) portfolio.The request was issued through the Higher Purchase Committee at Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.The invited companies that can bid for the contract include: Amec Foster Wheeler Group (UK)Kellogg Brown and Root (KBR, US)Worley Engineering (Australia)Technip Energies (France)The companies have until 1 February to submit proposals for the contract.In 2022, Kuwait's Foreign Minister Salem Abdullah al-Sabah said the country aims to reach net zero carbon emissions in 2060, and is committing to deliver net zero carbon emissions in its critical oil and gas sector a decade earlier, by 2050.The procurement process for Kuwait's first major solar power plant project has started, in line with its goal for renewable sources to account for 15 per cent of its electricity production mix by 2030.Kuwait’s Electricity, Water & Renewable Energy Ministry (MEWRE), through the Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (Kapp), has invited interested companies to purchase the request for qualifications (RFQ) document for the 1,100MW solar photovoltaic (PV) IPP project located in Jahra governorate.Companies have until 22 February to purchase the RFQ document.  (ICE KUWAIT)
