The Kuwaiti Arab Planning Institute (API) has sent a delegation on an official visit to Lebanon with the aim oflaunching the national project to spread entrepreneurial culture and the culture of self-employment in thecountry. This goal will set focus especially on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The delegation, headed by the Director General of the API, met with the Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister to thank them for the sponsorship of the project’s launch and their preparedness to provide all possible capabilities to help the API’s delegation. Additional meetings with Lebanese officials will be held in order to enhance the role of API in providing development support and for Lebanon to benefit from the institute’s services. The beginning of the project was the opening of the training program aiming to prepare and train trainers in the field of entrepreneurship and SMEs until mid-January. The course will be held in Tripoli and will coincide with several other training workshops held in private and public universities. The workshops will shed light on the culture the institute wishes to spread with the end goal of reducing gravitation towards working in the public sector. If achieved, this would in turn reduce financial pressure on the government and reduce disguisedunemployment that many government institutions suffer from. During the project, the investment ideas competition will be announced where a committee will evaluate competitors specialized in the field. After the assessment, the winners of the competition will be linked to funding agencies for their projects. (ICE BEIRUT)
