RUSSIA-GAZPROM-KAZAKHSTAN-MEETING

Gazprom CEO and Kazakh deputy prime minister discuss supply and transit of Russian gasGazprom CEO Alexey Miller and Kazakh First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar held a meeting in St. Petersburg on Wednesday.The parties discussed current issues relating to cooperation in the gas industry, focusing on the supply and transportation of Russian natural gas, Gazprom said.The previous meeting between Miller and Sklar was held on November 30, 2023.Gazprom signed a contract with Kazakhstan's QazaqGaz in June 2023 for the transportation of Russian natural gas through Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan. A ceremony launching Russian gas supplies to Uzbekistan via Kazakhstan took place in October last year. Russian gas is shipped to Uzbekistan in reverse mode via Kazakhstan through a dedicated route in the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline system.In November 2023, Gazprom and Kazakhstan's government signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Its purpose is to develop cooperation in gas supply, transportation and processing, as well as exploration and production.Miller said earlier that Gazprom planned to sign 15-year contracts for gas supplies with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan in the summer of 2024. These contracts are expected to come into force in the autumn of 2025. (ICE ALMATY)
