The Polish Economic Institute (PIE) has reported that according to the latest data released by the Central Statistical Office (GUS), in December 2023 the average monthly gross wage and salary in the enterprise sector amounted to PLN8,033, emphasising that it is the first time after 1989 when the PLN8k threshold has been exceeded. The PIE notes that the increase is not only due to the minimum wage hikes, but also payouts of Christmas and one-off bonuses. The institute’s experts also expect the average wage and salary to continue rising in 2024 at a rate well above the rate of inflation. (ICE VARSAVIA)
