Vancouverites can anticipate a remarkable showcase of Italian wineries at the upcoming 45th Vancouver International Wine Festival (VIWF) from February 24 to March 3. Italy, serving as the host nation for the fourth time in the festival's history, will have representatives from 71 participating wineries, surpassing previous records. The festival, featuring a total of 147 wineries from 17 countries, will include 15 dinners, seminars, and four main public tastings at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Notably, the temporary British Columbia Liquor Distribution Branch (BCLDB) store adjacent to the tasting room is expected to boost sales of Italian wines in British Columbia, which have already demonstrated growth exceeding overall wine sales in the region. Despite a decline in overall wine sales in B.C. in 2023, Italian wine sales remained resilient.
