The latest edition of the annual Benvenuto Brunello event in Toronto in November featured the extraordinary 2019 vintage of Brunello di Montalcino, one that will go down among the best of the last decade and sit alongside the now legendary 2016s.2019 was rated the full 5 stars by the Consorzio Brunello di Montalcino after the consecutive 4 stars of 2018 and 2017. And although the obvious vested interests of the Consorzio make such declarations questionable (anything less than four stars is exceedingly rare; 3-star 2014 and 2-star 2002 being the only two in the last 20 years), in this case, 2019 deserves the full five-of-a-kind.
