Prime Minister Mohammed Shiaa Al-Sudani has approved the recommendations of the committee responsible for establishing a fixed platform for imported gas at the large Al-Faw Port.This platform is the first of its kind in the national oil, gas, and related infrastructure sector.During a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on Wednesday, the focus was on monitoring the procedures for implementing and operating the fixed platform for gas imports. This platform was endorsed by the Cabinet to ensure the continuity of gas supply from multiple sources and address the shortage in power station operations.Prime Minister Al-Sudani emphasized that the initiation of this vital project would not have been possible without the significant progress in completing the large Al-Faw Port project, which is nearing the start of its service on its docks. This project aligns with the government's efforts to solve gas supply problems, eliminate obstacles related to imported gas, and transition entirely to relying on gas produced from national fields.The approved recommendations included inviting a reputable international consulting company to oversee the technical and commercial aspects. Additionally, invitations were extended to establish a fixed platform for importing liquefied gas at the large Al-Faw Port, along with all the necessary infrastructure for this project, and connecting it to the national pipeline network.
