The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) has sold $139.1 million through auctions to stabilize the riel exchange rate and boost the economy, according to a report. The bank held US dollar auctions for banks, microfinance institutions, and money changers to curb the rising exchange rate of the Khmer Riel against the US dollar. The NBC's measures aim to stabilize market conditions and correct exchange rate issues. In 2021, the bank injected $554.2 million in cash to buy riels from the foreign exchange market. The NBC also reduced liquidity-provided collateralized operation for KHR supply and reduced the Reserve Requirement for USD. (ICE BANGKOK)
