Polonia

2023 WITH RECORD NUMBER OF RAIL PASSENGERS

The Office of Rail Transport (UTK) has reported that in 2023 railways in Poland carried 374.4 million passengers, which represents an increase by 9.4 percent y/y and which is the highest result since 1999, when the figure reached 395.2 million. Commenting on the data, UTK’s said that such good results were a signal that rail passenger transport was getting back on track. “Growing awareness of the need to use environmentally friendly modes of transport, rising fuel costs and favourable offers from carriers – these certainly make train travel more profitable than commuting by car for example,” he added.
