MANILA, Philippine: The Philippines should promote renewable energy as part of its efforts to attract more foreign investments, a ranking US economic official said. US Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and Environment Jose Fernandez said the Philippines is "one of the world's most vulnerable countries to climate change." "So it is very important [for the Philippines to promote renewable energy to address climate change]," Fernandez said in an online interview Thursday. He said the US is "gratified to see how eager the Marcos administration is to promote clean energy in the Philippines."
