To the end of 2023, the population of Poland fell by 131,000 to 37.635 million people compared to the end of 2022, according to figures released by the Central Statistical Office (GUS).For every 10,000 people there were 35 people fewer at the end of 2023, with the actual decrease at minus 0.35 in percentage terms.The birth rate in 2023 was estimated at minus 3.6 (for every 1,000 people), which meant that in that year alone the number of births was 137,000 lower than the number of deaths.
