Kazakh PM instructs law enforcement agencies to provide orders for domestic cartridge plantThe Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov instructed to organize the provision of orders for the domestic cartridge plant Steel Manufacturing LLP, the government press service reported.The head of government got familiar with the activities of the enterprise during a visit to the Saryarka special economic zone in the Karaganda region.“The Prime Minister emphasized that the plant must operate at full capacity, so it is necessary to organize its loading through planned orders from law enforcement agencies,” the message says.According to the press service, this year the enterprise plans to complete the commissioning of the rifle line, and to launch the mass production of cartridges of various calibers.“Previously, Kazakhstan did not have its own production of small arms ammunition, and the country’s needs were met from old stocks or purchased abroad,” the government clarified.Steel Manufacturing LLP is registered in the territory of the Saryarka special economic zone. In 2020, the pistol line was launched, and in 2022, commissioning of the rifle line began. Currently, the plant fulfills government orders from the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Almost all processes for assembling cartridges are automated. (ICE ALMATY)
