CAMBODIA BOOSTS RICE EXPORTS 25% TO 46,221 TONNES IN JAN

Cambodia exported 25.2% more milled rice in January, resulting in a 13.6% year-over-year increase in income to the exchequer of $32.6 million. The Kingdom shipped to 42 countries and regions. The World Food Programme and USAID report highlights India's ban on rice exports from India in 2023, which has had significant global implications. This has led to concerns over rice shortages on the global market, pushing rice prices towards a new 15-year high. The European Union was the top buyer of rice from Cambodia, with purchases reaching 25,005 tonnes. However, experts believe domestic rice prices have been marginally impacted by higher exports.
