Polonia

POLAND AMONG EU LEADERS

Yesterday, at first the Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported that in Q4, 2023 Poland’s GDP growth had reached 1 % y/y while shortly afterwards Eurostat released a report putting Poland’s GDP growth at 1.5 %. According to experts, the difference is due to the method of calculating inflation. According to the national method, in the final quarter of 2023 inflation was at 6.4 % y/y while the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), calculated by Eurostat, was at 6.2 % y/y. The figures compiled by the EU’s statistical office also show that Poland was outstripped only by Romania (+2.9 %) and Spain (+2.1 %). (ICE VARSAVIA)
