CAMBODIA’S RUBBER EXPORTS RISE BY 123 PERCENT

Cambodia's rubber exports increased by 123.5% in the first month of 2023, reaching $121 million, according to the General Department of Customs and Excise. The trend continued throughout the year and extended to January this year. In 2023, Cambodia earned $919 million from rubber and rubber articles exports, a growth of 69.6%. The Cambodian rubber market mainly consists of China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, India, and the EU. The global production of natural rubber increased by 9.1% in December, reaching 1.5 million tonnes. However, demand for natural rubber contracted by 3.2%, totaling 1.2 million tonnes. Thailand was the largest producer of natural rubber last year, followed by Indonesia, Vietnam, China, India, Malaysia, and Cambodia. The global natural rubber market is expected to reach 14.69 million tonnes, with consumption projected at 14.738 million tonnes. Cambodia has over 400,000 hectares of rubber plantations and 168 rubber processing factories and handicraft centres in 11 provinces. (ICE BANGKOK)
