KAZ Minerals upped copper production 6% in 2023 KAZ Minerals Group produced 403,000 tonnes of copper in 2023 or an increase of 6% from a year earlier, the company said in a press release on Wednesday.In 2023, gold production declined by 5% to 162,000 oz; silver output increased by 6.4% to 4.008 million oz; and the output of zinc in concentrate grew by 9% to 51,400 tonnes, according to the press release.“KAZ Minerals delivered record copper output of 403,000 tonnes in 2023, an increase of 6% on the prior year, driven by increased output from Aktogay following the world class ramp-up of the second sulphide concentrator in 2022,” CEO Andrew Southam is quoted as saying.Copper sales volumes of 445,000 tonnes in 2023 were 10% higher than production as the Group fully sold its accumulated finished goods inventories, according to the press release.In 2023 Aktogay produced 252,400 tonnes or an 11% increase compared to 2022. Silver production rose by 7% to amount to 1.2 million oz, and the output of molybdenum in concentrate soared by 80% to reach 3.727 million tonnes. In the twelve months of 2023, Aktobe extracted 77.3 million tonnes of ore or an increaser of 11%j compared with the previous years.At Bozshakol, full year copper production amounted to 104,600 tonnes or 2% higher than the prior year. Gold production declined by 3% to 115,200 oz, while silver output grew by 11% to 818,000 oz.In the East Region and Bozymchak, the 2023 copper production came to 46,400 tonnes or 7% lower than the previous year; gold output was at 46,800 oz or a decrease of 10% from a year earlier; silver production amounted to 1.98 million oz or up 4%; and the output of zinc in concentrated totaled 51,400 tonnes and a rise of 9%.KAZ Minerals is a copper company focused on large scale, low cost, open pit mining in Kazakhstan.
