BERLIN SHOOTING STAR: VALENTINA BELLÈ ON ACTING AS A CHANCE TO “ABANDON THE IDEA

Actress Valentina Bellè graced the red carpet at the Critics Choice Awards on February 14 for "The Good Mothers," the Disney+ series directed by Julian Jarrold and Elisa Amoruso, which garnered a nomination for best foreign series after its debut in Berlin last year, where it clinched the festival’s first Berlinale Series Award. Now, the 31-year-old Bellè is set to return to Berlin this year as the Italian representative for European Shooting Stars, an accolade celebrating emerging talent across Europe. Reflecting on her journey, Bellè recalls her roots in acting starting from the stage of her elementary school's theater, a transformative experience that sparked her lifelong passion. After studying at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York City, she further honed her craft at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Italy. Despite initial setbacks, including not being initially admitted to the prestigious film school, Bellè persevered and embarked on a successful career, collaborating with renowned directors and starring in notable productions such as Michael Mann’s biopic "Ferrari" and Giorgio Diritti’s period drama "Lubo." Through her diverse roles, including performances in her native Venetian dialect, Bellè has embraced the authenticity and freedom that acting offers, marking significant breakthroughs in her career, culminating in her current recognition as a rising star in the international film industry.
