Lumacheria Italiana to build 2 mln euro snail farm in south KazakhstanItaly’s Lumacheria Italiana, one of the world leaders in the snail breeding industry, will produce snails on a large scale in the Zhambyl region, the regional authorities said in a press release.“The Zhambyl region will be the first region in Central Asia where snails will be commercially grown,” the press release says.Lumacheria Italiana will carry out the project in cooperation with the local agricultural company Meragro. The project will involve the construction of a number of facilities: a snail farm, an incubator, a feed production factory and a snail meat processing plant.Initial investment in the project will exceed 2 million euros.The shell and mucin, the mucus produced by the snail, are used in the cosmetology.
