EU Council imposes sanctions on companies suspected of circumventing measures against RFThe EU Council decided to impose import-export restrictions as part of the 13th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation on certain companies from China, India, Serbia, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Turkey, and Sri Lanka.According to the EU Council communiqué, “they will be subject to tighter export restrictions concerning dual use goods and technologies, as well as goods and technology which might contribute to the technological enhancement of Russia’s defence and security sector.”According to the EU, entities in these countries “support the Russia’s military- and industrial complex” and “and have been involved in the circumvention of trade restrictions.”In particular, four companies from China were blacklisted, as well as one entity from each of the following countries: Kazakhstan, India, Serbia, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Turkey.According to Brussels, these entities provide indirect support to the Russian defense industry by trading in elements of electronic equipment needed for the armed forces and the military industry.The relevant legal acts will soon be published in the Official Journal of the EU.
