he EBRD First Vice President Jürgen Rigterink is visiting Jordan from 27 to 28 February 2024 to meet senior government officials and the business community in Amman.During his visit, Mr Rigterink will hold discussions with the Deputy Prime Minister of Jordan, Nasser Shraideh, Minister of Energy, Saleh Kharabsheh, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and EBRD Governor, Zeina Toukan, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan, Adel Sharkas.Members of the business community include companies and local banks, as well as international financial institutions.Mr Rigterink said: “I am pleased to visit Jordan for the second time and I look forward to discussing ongoing projects and future cooperation with government officials and the private sector. We are proud to have established a trusted collaboration with our partners in Jordan over the years, which is instrumental in advancing the country’s green investments, infrastructure reform and private sector growth, as well as promoting inclusion and job creation.”Mr Rigterink will be joined by Gretchen Biery, EBRD Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Region.Since 2012, the EBRD has provided more than €1.9 billion in financing through 71 projects in Jordan, including financial support to the Jordanian banking sector through loans to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, subordinated debt and trade finance facilities.
