Thailand maintained its competitiveness in agricultural and agro-industrial product exports last year due to free trade agreements (FTAs) with partners. Despite a 3% YoY decline in total exports to FTA partners, Thailand's agricultural and agro-industrial product exports expanded as partners offered tax waivers on those products. Agricultural product exports were worth $19.56 billion, up 4% YoY, while agro-industrial products exports amounted to $15.07 billion, up 2% YoY. Thailand is the top agricultural products exporter in ASEAN and seventh globally. The country now has 15 FTAs, covering over 85% of its products. Sri Lanka is Thailand's latest FTA partner, and more agreements are in the process to ensure maximum benefits for its exports. (ICE BANGKOK)
