Kazakhstan PM instructs to increase domestic goods share in Baiterek holding purchases.Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov instructed to review the procurement policy of the National Management Holding Baiterek in terms of supporting domestic producers, the press service of the head of government reported.At a meeting of the board of directors of the holding, the prime minister noted that it is necessary to revise the procurement rules of Baiterek as soon as possible in the direction of radically increasing the share of domestic goods. In addition, according to him, enterprises receiving government support must constantly increase in-country value.“Through the Baiterek holding and our other development institutions, we direct large amounts of funds to support promising enterprises and sectors of the economy. (…) If we provide support to an entrepreneur, he must take on reciprocal obligations - to produce the goods in Kazakhstan that are currently imported, increase labor productivity and the workers’ wages, and attract Kazakh enterprises as subcontractors and suppliers,” Bektenov said.It is also reported that in 2023, the holding’s subsidiaries supported enterprises in non-resource sectors of the economy for a total amount of 2.8 trillion tenge, which is 45% increase year-on-year. More than 71,000 companies and organizations that are not subjects of the quasi-public sector were supported in the amount of 2.5 trillion tenge.The total volume of financing in the agricultural sector for 2023 amounted to 665.2 billion tenge.The Prime Minister said that the government is currently preparing a set of measures to increase in-country value and develop domestic production.On Wednesday, the Ministry of Trade and Integration said it would exclude value added tax (VAT) and profits from the formula for calculating the share of in-country value of Kazakhstani goods and services.Baiterek Holding is an integrated development institution aimed at supporting entrepreneurship, developing the agro-industrial complex and providing the country's population with housing.
