THE BOLOGNA CHILDREN’S BOOK FAIR GEARS UP TO UNVEIL A NEW TV/FILM RIGHTS CENTRE

The 61st edition of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair (BCBF), taking place between April 8th and 1st, is set to build upon its successful history, having welcomed over 1,400 exhibitors and nearly 29,000 visitors in 2023. This year, alongside its core event, the fair will introduce the Bologna Licensing Trade Fair/Kids and BolognaBookPlus, further expanding its offerings. Notably, a new addition is the TV/Film Rights Centre, aimed at bridging the publishing and audiovisual sectors by facilitating networking opportunities and promoting book-to-screen adaptations. Elena Pasoli, director of BCBF, emphasizes the fair's significance as a hub for trading content rights for children, with the TV/Film Rights Centre serving as a dedicated space for TV and film producers to explore potential IPs for adaptation. With prominent attendees like Mediatoon, Gaumont, Netflix, and Nelvana confirmed, the fair aims to foster collaboration between audiovisual agencies and editors, enhancing opportunities for book-to-screen adaptations. Additionally, a designated business lounge will provide a conducive environment for meetings and networking activities, further enriching the fair experience for participants. (ICE TORONTO)
