Banks received permission to export EAEU countries’ cash currencies from KazakhstanSecond-tier banks were allowed to export cash currency of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) from Kazakhstan, the corresponding decree was signed by the President of the Republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.In Kazakhstan, since March 2022, there has been a ban on the export of cash foreign currency in an amount equivalent to $10 thousand, calculated at the National Bank exchange rate on the date of export. This requirement did not apply to the operations of the National Bank and organizations included in its structure.In the amendments to the decree On measures to ensure the financial stability of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated February 29, 2024, an exception to the ban was added: “ the requirements (...) do not apply to: (...) the export by second-tier banks of cash national currency of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union".Also, the new version of the decree excludes the requirement to ban the export from Kazakhstan of investment coins made of ALTYN BARYS gold and KÚMIS BARYS silver.The ban on the export of gold bars of refined gold weighing 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 grams, issued by the National Bank of Kazakhstan, as well as refined gold weighing over 100 grams, remains.
