KAZAKHSTAN-CHINA-OIL-EXPORT

Kazakhstan exports 1.2 million tonnes of oil to China in 2023Kazakhstan supplied 1.2 million tonnes of oil to China in 2023, Kazakhstan's Energy Minister, Almasadam Satkaliyev said."Kazakhstan has successfully exported 1.2 million tonnes of oil to China,” the Minister said during a ministry board meeting reviewing the year's results.Previously, Satkaliyev had mentioned Kazakhstan's plans to export up to 10 million tonnes of oil annually to China. To achieve this goal, the capacity of two parts of the Kazakh-Chinese pipeline, specifically the Atyrau-Kenkiyak and Kenkiyak-Kumkol sections, must be increased.Negotiations between KazMunayGas and CNPC focus on potentially expanding the Kenkiyak-Atyrau and Kenkiyak-Kumkol oil pipelines. These expansions aim to double the capacity of the Kenkiyak - Atyrau pipeline to 12 million tonnes per year and increase the Kenkiyak - Kumkol pipeline's capacity to 15 million tonnes.Magzum Mirzagaliyev, CEO of KazMunayGas, mentioned that the expansion of the Kazakhstan-China oil pipeline could cost approximately $200 million. He hopes the work could commence as early as 2024 and be completed within the next two to three years. (ICE ALMATY)
