THE PUPR MINISTER SAID THE KIAT PROGRAM WAS EXTENDED UNTIL JUNE 2026

The Indonesia-Australia Cooperation for Infrastructure (KIAT) initiative was extended until June 2026, according to Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Minister Basuki Hadimuljono. "The KIAT program has been extended with an effective period until June 2026."Basuki said Thursday in Jakarta that this initiative focuses on water, sanitation, transportation, and infrastructure funding. According to him, KIAT enabled Indonesia-Australia infrastructure collaboration. By 30 June 2022, the 150 million Australian dollar agreement will expire.As part of infrastructure collaboration with the Australian government, President Jokowi launched the Integrated Domestic Wastewater Treatment System (SPALD-T) in Palembang, South Sumatra, on October 26, 2023. The Waste Water Treatment Plant (IPAL) and a pumping station capable of supplying 120,000 people with a capacity of 20,000 m3/day were built with 67 million Australian dollars in funding. The Indonesian government is likewise building its pipeline network "from the main collecting pipe to household connections with the same investment amount," added Basuki.Ministers of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono, Airlangga Hartarto, Pratikno, and Marsudi joined Indonesian President Joko Widodo at a bilateral meeting with Australian Prime Minister (PM) Anthony Albanese, New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon, and Cambodian PM Hun Manet in Melbourne, Australia, during a working visit. At the Special ASEAN-Australia High Level Conference (Summit) to honor 50 years of relationship, the bilateral meeting was one of several events.
