OJK LAUNCHES CLIMATE RISK GUIDELINES, INDONESIA’S MAJOR BANKS COMMIT TO NZE

On Monday (4/3), Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) launched the Climate Risk Management & Scenario Analysis (CRMS) guidelines for the banking sector. At the same occasion, seven leading Indonesian banks, which include Indonesia’s top four biggest banks (Mandiri, BNI, BCA, BRI) signed commitments to achieve net-zero carbon emissions, aligning the banking sector's efforts with global and national environmental objectives. Chair of OJK, Dian Rae, highlighted the triple urgencies driving the CRMS's implementation: Indonesia's high vulnerability to climate change, the need to uphold global and national net-zero commitments, and the alignment with international standards on climate risk management. Mr. Rae noted that the initiative represents a significant step in integrating climate considerations into the financial sector's operational and strategic planning. The CRMS guidelines, detailed in six comprehensive books, offer a framework for Indonesian banks to navigate the complexities of climate risk management. Covering governance, strategy, risk management, and emissions calculation, these guidelines serve as a blueprint for the banking industry to transition towards sustainable, low-carbon financing models.Link di fonte: https://www.viva.co.id/english/1693936-ojk-launches-low-carbon-financing-guidelines-for-indonesian-banks?page=2 (ICE GIACARTA)
