INDONESIA TARGETS EUR 14.7 BILLION SPENDING ON LOCAL PRODUCTS IN Q1 OF 2024

Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, at the opening of the 2024 Business Matching and Exhibition held by his ministry on Tuesday (5/3) said, Indonesia is targeting IDR 250 trillion (EUR 14.7 billion) of contract value for domestic product purchases in first quarter of 2024 by central and regional governments. The stated target would mean 20.4 percent of the total potential for expenditure on goods and capital from the 2024 state budget and regional budget of IDR 1,223 trillion (EUR 72 billion). These figures do not yet include the potential spending by state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and regional enterprises. The event, held by the Industry Ministry, has brought together budget owners, producers as well as business actors, and resulted in IDR 90 trillion of commitments, mainly by the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. According to the Minister, the Indonesian National Public Procurement Agency (LKPP) data shows commitment to use domestic products in 2023 was IDR 1,208 trillion (EUR 71.1 billion) for the procurement of government goods and services. However, the realisation only reached IDR 659.61 trillion (EUR 38.8 billion). He emphasised that the Programme to Increase the Use of Domestic-made Products (P3DN) is instrumental in boosting national economic growth. Earlier, Ministry of Industry's Secretary General, Eko S. A. Cahyanto, stated on Monday (4/3) that the development of new factories and the employment of the domestic workforce proved that the P3DN has enhanced the national economy. The use of domestic products also directly boosts the national economic resilience, he highlighted. Apart from boosting the national economy, the requirement to use domestic products will also reduce dependence on imported products. “It is consistent with the ministry's import substitution policy that we are promoting now. We are optimistic that products made by our industries will be the master in its home," Cahyanto concluded.Link di fonte: https://en.antaranews.com/news/307617/use-of-domestic-made-products-helps-drive-economic-growth-ministry?utm_source=antaranews&utm_medium=desktop&utm_campaign=top_news (ICE GIACARTA)
