KAZAKHSTAN-AZERBAIJAN-COLLABORATION

Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan plan joint energy and transit projects - TokayevPresident Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in an interview with the Azerbaijani news agency APA ahead of his trip to Baku, announced plans for joint projects, underscoring their importance for both nations and the region."In our portfolio, we have several crucial projects that hold significance for our countries and the wider region. These include expanding the capacity of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor), laying a fiber-optic communication line (FOCL) and an energy cable on the Caspian seabed, exporting oil and uranium through Azerbaijan, and supplying wheat from Kazakhstan to the Azerbaijani market,” Tokayev said in an interview with the Azerbaijani news agency APA.The Kazakh president noted that since 2020, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan has surged nearly fivefold, from $109 million to $529 million. "This growth is remarkable, and we aim to further increase these volumes," Tokayev said.Additionally, he mentioned several joint initiatives focused on bolstering cultural ties and boosting tourist arrivals between the two nations. Tokayev emphasized the positive direction of Kazakh-Azerbaijani relations, with focused efforts to improve ties across various areas such as politics, trade, economy, transportation, energy, agriculture, culture, and humanitarian issues."Besides traditional interaction methods, we've set up operational Business and Expert Councils. In Baku, we'll launch the Supreme Interstate Council and hold its inaugural session,” he said.Tokayev stated that the regulatory and legal framework is continuously expanding, with approximately 40 significant bilateral documents signed in the past year and a half alone.“Another set of documents is being prepared for signing during the forthcoming visit. This will naturally enhance our collaboration,” he said."Our goal is to build strong relations between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, strategically and as allies. I'm confident that with our joint efforts, we'll achieve this objective,” Tokyev said. (ICE ALMATY)
