Cargo transportation via TITR to surge by 43% in 2024The volume of cargo transportation via the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) is to increase to 4.2 million tonnes in 2024, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan reported.According to the press service, Vice Minister of Transport Satzhan Ablaliyev took part in the second meeting of the Kazakh-Azerbaijani Business Council, which is being held in Baku. The event is dedicated to new approaches in the development of trade relations between the two countries.“The cargo transportation volume via TITR increased by 65% in 2023, as for the current year we plan to increase it by another 43% and bring it to 4.2 million tonnes,” Ablaliyev is quoted as saying.At the end of January,2024 the volume of transportation increased by 150% year-on-year. At the same time, there is an almost threefold increase in the transit of Chinese containers, the vice minister noted.The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, also known as the "Middle Corridor", is an international transport route that runs through China, Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia and further to Turkey and European countries.
