KAZAKHSTAN-ECONOMY-GROWTH-ORDER

Kazakh Prime Minister urges acceleration of economic growthPrime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, emphasized the importance of accelerating GDP growth.“Overall, the country's economy has demonstrated a 4.2% growth since the beginning of the year compared to the corresponding period last year. Growth dynamics are evident in the real sector. While the current growth is positive, efforts are needed to boost it further,” Bektenov said at a government meeting on Tuesday.Prime Minister stressed the need for the government and the National Bank to work together to reduce inflationary pressure. Bektenov highlighted a significant price increase across various items over the two-month period."This shows that the actions taken by central and local authorities aren't sufficient. I'm instructing them to tighten control and ensure the effective implementation of measures to control and reduce inflation,” Bektenov said.Bektenov highlighted the importance of using effective mechanisms like stabilization funds, forward contracts, off-take contracts, subsidies to lower product costs, and agreements with traders to maintain price stability.“There's also a need to boost the production of import-dependent items and expand the cultivation of priority crops for the production of staple food products,” Bektenov said.
