KAZAKHSTAN-BUDGET-REVENUE

Kazakhstan's government budget faces 396 billion tenge tax shortfall in Jan-FebIn January-February, Kazakhstan's government budget faced a tax revenue shortfall of 396 billion tenge, as revealed by Finance Minister Madi Takiyev."The government budget received 1 trillion 902 billion tenge, which was 17% below the target. The revenue fell short by 396 billion tenge, due to undercharged VAT on imports, CIT, and ETP on crude oil. One of the main reasons is the ongoing decline in world prices for key export goods,” Takiyev said.Takiyev highlighted that metal prices dropped by an average of 9.1% during this period."Additionally, there was a reduction of 1 million tonnes in crude oil exports subject to ETP, resulting from the transfer of oil export volumes by Tengizchevroil LLP from December 2022 to January 2023,” he said. The budget's revenue shortfall was also caused by using 252 billion tenge out of 594 billion tenge to repay VAT on the 2023 debt.
