GIT REPORTS A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN GEM AND GOLD EXPORTS FOR JANUARY

Gems and jewellery exports in Thailand rose to $696.96 million in January, a 21.53% increase, according to Sumed Prasongpongchai, director of the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand. The growth is attributed to global economic recovery, a slowing down of inflation, and the Commerce Ministry's efforts to establish networks and collaborations in the gem trade. The overall export value, including gold, reached $1.166 billion, reflecting a 59.09% increase. Key export markets showed an upward trend, with gold jewellery increasing by 30.18%. However, challenges such as prolonged monetary policies, uncertainties related to the Israel-Hamas war, potential conflicts, and key elections in countries like the US and UK remain. (ICE BANGKOK)
