Saudi Arabia's Diriyah Company, formerly known as Diriyah Gate Development Authority, has announced plans to build a 20,000-seater multipurpose venue, called The Arena at its Diriyah Gate project in Riyadh. Diriyah Company announced the project at the MIPIM event held in Cannes this week. The Arena will have a built-up area of 76,000 square metres and is designed by US-based architectural firm HKS Architects. It will be able to host various sports, entertainment and cultural events. A retail and dining district and an outdoor space for live performances will surround The Plaza. In December, the Diriyah Company announced to build an opera house at the Diriyah Gate project. The announcement was made during Diriyah Company’s Bashayer 2023 event. The project is designed by Norwegian architectural firm Snohetta with local support from Riyadh-based Syn Architects.
