President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo led a limited cabinet meeting on Wednesday (13/3) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, to follow-up on land readiness and investment in the Nusantara Capital (IKN). After the meeting, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono said, the President reinforced the Government’s commitment to make IKN a model for transformation from the old, slow and complicated bureaucratic system, and to expedite land provision for investment, while underscoring that the IKN is developed not only to relocate the capital but also to be a model for an efficient and fast work transformation for other regional governments in Indonesia. President Jokowi also called for acceleration of the land acquisition status, particularly for infrastructure development and land provision for investment. On the progress of IKN development, Minister Hadimuljono said, basic infrastructures, including clean water and toll roads, are set to be completed by mid-2024. “The clean water (facility) and airport are expected to be in operation in July. It is our hope that the Independence Day Ceremony can be held in the IKN and the President will start to work there,” he added. In the meantime, the Head of the IKN Authority Bambang Susantono revealed that the investment value in the IKN has reached IDR 49.6 trillion (EUR 2.9 billion).
