KUWAIT’S IMPORTS RISE ACROSS MULTIPLE CATEGORIES

Kuwait’s foreign trade data for 2023 indicates a slight uptick in imports across several sectors compared to the previous year. The country spent 1,8 billion dollars on live animals and animal products, with imports including meat, edible entrails, and limbs amounting to 746 billion dollars. Additionally, purchases of fish, crustaceans, and mollusks totaled 217 million dollars. Imports of milk, dairy products, bird eggs, and natural honey reached 718 million dollars, while coffee, tea, mate, and spices accounted for 211 million dollars.Edible fruits and vegetables saw purchases of about 496 million dollars, with sugar and sugar products totaling 155 million dollars. Kuwait imported medicines worth approximately 1,9 billion dollars, while perfumes and aromatic oils amounted to841 million dollars. Purchases of books, printing products, and manuscripts reached 41 million dollars.In addition, synthetic hair imports recorded 69 million dollars, while shoes and headgear amounted to 423 million dollars and 23 million dollars, respectively. Notably, imports of pearls, precious stones, and metals decreased to 2 billion dollars compared to the previous year. Machinery, electrical equipment, audio, and video devices saw significant imports, totaling about 3.5 billion dollars.
